A bright blue sky above the newly cut hay - a very familiar scene in rural Northern Ireland! Autumn brings with it time to harvest hay, farmers showing their skill in rolling tight bales to feed livestock through the cold winter months. A newly cut field is a treat for the eyes and the nose, pulling up memories of summers-end and the start of school, the last of the summer before the sharp frost sets in. The bright berries in the hedge are ripe for picking by birds & hedgerow dwellers, and it's time to pick blackberries for tarts & buns!
