"Suave, mari magno turbantibus aequora ventis
e terra magnum alterius spectare laborem."
  -  "Tis pleasant, safely to behold from shore
The troubled sailor, and hear the tempests roar."

From Lucretius, De Rerum Natura - inscribed around the Temple.

This painting beautifully captures the 18th-century folly on the estate of Earl Bishop, sitting on a clifftop high above the Atlantic Ocean on the magnificent North Coast of Northern Ireland.

Built as a library in 1785, you can imagine how luxurious it would be to read in warmth and comfort while wind whips around the building, and waves crash below in stormy weather. Modelled on Italian temples near Rome, this distinctive and unusual building is a well-known site for tourists in Northern Ireland amid cliff-top walks and its castle ruins.

Original acrylic artwork by Feilin Campbell, this painting comes with a square wooden frame in white with mount.

Size: A4 - 38cm x 31cm approx.
